Life Skills Room

Our dedicated Life Skills Room helps our students connect the dots between playtime and the daily life skills that they need. Whether it’s picking up toys, wiping down tables, or serving their own snacks – we build important skills here that are essential in keeping our students’ worlds organized.

The room is purposely arranged for tasks such as putting bags away, pouring cups of juice, washing hands, zipping, buttoning, lacing, pouring, setting a table, rolling mats, etc. The room has a thematic setting and children learn conceptually about each activity.

Quiet Room

The Quiet Room is a vital therapeutic management tool and a commonly used behavioral technique to reduce disruptive behaviors and decrease sensory stimuli in distressed students.

It is a space away from the challenges and stresses that our students, carers, families and staff can feel. Sometimes students are able to adapt and cope with circumstances and other times they need a quiet, safe and welcoming place where they can sit or lie down, and unplug. The space is a welcoming room with muted coloring and lighting, an A.C., as well as couches, chairs and soft furnishings.

Inside, we’ve put a strong emphasis on comfortable surroundings and soft furnishings for students to enjoy their favorite storybooks along with space for read-aloud time.
